Baby Shower

My friend, Alina, is having a baby mid-december, so I threw her a baby shower! It's the first one I've ever thrown, and I had way too much fun. Thanks to Angela for coming to help me finish everything! And to Alexa for helping get all the food out!

I used those rings that babies play with - the ones that connect to each other - as napkin rings. All blue, green and yellow decorations, of course!
We had pretzels and m&m's as our finger food - or appetizer. WAY too addicting.
As a small treat, I made these napkin diapers and put whoppers inside.
I wanted to make a cake of huge blocks for the cake - but decided to make small blocks and eat them as cupcakes. WAY easier to eat than a huge cake.
Angela made the sign, and I made these booties - as gifts to the people who came. I filled them with pacifier candy and mints.

We had lemon water and sparkling cider - YUM.
And drank them out of baby bottles.
These decorations hung over the table - Angela spent a LOT of time making those cute balls.
Fruit was our "main course."
We played this game where you taste all the baby foods and try and decide what they were. Quite hilarious.
Alina opened all her presents - by number, and we all played bingo when she called a number on one of her presents.
We ended the party with a game of drinking the chocolate milk out of a baby bottle. First to finish - wins. Alexa was our winner. She was challenged later in the day by Eric, Eric, Angela and myself, and still won. It's a LOT harder than it looks!
We also took a ribbon and marked how big we thought Alina's stomach was. All in all, it was a VERY fun party!

Congrats to you Alina!!!

Day Challenge - Final Blog

Day 27- a picture of you and your family - I know this picture is just of my siblings - but I couldn't find one recently of all of us.

Day 28- another picture of yourself

Day 29- a letter to someone who has hurt you recently

Dear blog readers,

It hurts me when you don't leave comments. Please leave more. :) Heck, I'll even bribe you if it would help.

Love, Jackie

Day 30- a letter to your parents

Dear Mom and Dad,

I just want to tell you that I love you very much. I'm so thankful to have parents like you. I'm so sad I don't get to come home and hang out with you during Thanksgiving or Christmas, but I'll be thinking of you. Dad, make lots of chess pies for me. And THEN... figure out a way to send them here.

Love, Jackie

That's all!!

Oh, and PS - if you haven't seen this video, then you should watch it...

AND THEN, you should watch this one!

Day Challenge - Blog 3

I apologize for my absence - I have been so crazy busy that I didn't get these on here. AND THEN, I didn't even have time to use my regular camera (it was charging for two different photoshoots on Saturday), so I used my phone. I know... I fail.

Day 21 - Your fave song - I don't have an absolutely favorite song. If I had to choose one that I really like RIGHT NOW - it would be Amy Grant's Tennessee Christmas.

Day 22 - a picture of somewhere you've been today - This is a picture of the neighborhood I drive through to get to work. I saw these yellow ribbons and wondered what they were for. On the news that night, I saw that people were hanging them around this neighborhood because this is where the lady who died in the Payson plane crash lived.

Day 23 - A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you -

Out of anyone I know, Eric has dramatically changed my life. When I first met Eric, you could call me a HUGE people pleaser. I always said sorry for everything, was always taking the blame, and one day - when Eric and my friend had really hurt me - he told me it was fine to be mad. I just couldn't even figure that out. Be mad at somebody? Heck no. Those who have known me since junior high will tell you, I was the sweetest person ever. And now... well you'll probably hear that I'm a little fiery. I just call it "finally having a backbone." :) Eric has helped me become the person I am today, and is always constantly showing me how I can be better. I am a person who enjoys constructive criticism, and am so happy I have a husband who is always honest with me - always making me better myself. I love him with all my heart.

Day 24 - another picture of you and your friends. I've decided to pick pictures of two of my LITTLE friends. :)

Day 25 - a picture of something that makes you happy. Yes, this is a picture of my radio... I'm listening to Christmas music - and THAT makes me happy.

Day 26 - a picture of you from last year and now. How have you changed since then?
I went on my blog - clicked last november, and got this picture. :) I'm trying to have the same face as Jerz in this picture. haha How have I changed? Well, I've lost 8 pounds since that picture (working on 13 more at the moment). I've played softball for the first time ever (that's right... no softball or baseball or anything like that before) and decided that I am not afraid of getting hit in the face. A fear I picked up as a child. I've also become obsessed with 5k and 10k races. I've learned a lot about myself, and changed in a lot of ways. I think the biggest thing I've learned though, is just have fun - lets things go, don't let things bug ya, and just roll with it. :)

Day Challenge - Blog 2

Day 11- a picture of you and your friends

Day 12- nicknames you have and why you have them:
Jae - when I was in junior high, my best friend's name was Rachel. She was Princess Rae and I was Angel Jae. Eventually, my other friend, Tanya, was called Tae.
Smackie Jackie (sometimes smackie tackie wackie jackie) - a youth leader at camp gave me this name.
Jack-colon - Ethan calls me this.
Jack Jack - Kade and Addi call me this (when they aren't calling me Uncle Jack. haha)
Jackster - my friend Rebecca (or Bexter) calls me this.

Day 13- someone you see yourself marrying or being with in the future: How about... Eric? :)
Day 14- someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why: A famous singer... so I could talk some producer they know into letting me be a singer as well. :)
Day 15- what makes you different from everyone else: Well, a lot of things. Besides the list of interesting facts I already wrote down :), I think I'm extremely understanding to a lot of people's situations - no matter how different they are. My friends will tell you that my life has been like a soap opera since I was in Junior high - and I think those experiences make me, ME.
Day 16- something you crave for a lot: Ya know... I don't really know how to answer this one. When I think of cravings, I think of food - so I crave a lot of fruits and veggies.
Day 17- what I would find in your bag: My wallet and make-up.
Day 18- what do you think about your friends: I think that if I didn't have friends, I would go freaking nuts.
Day 19- why are you doing this 30 day challenge: It seemed like it would be fun - as long as I shortened it. :)
Day 20- in this past month, what have you learned: That I need to give my body the break it deserves. Today, I go to the orthopedic surgeon to find out how much I screwed up my leg. It's gotta be my body's way of telling me - take a break, right?

Day Challenge - Blog 1

Day 1 - Recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

1. I never played any sports as a kid because I was afraid of being hit in the face. Hence the reason I did gymnastics. Later on, I played tennis and LOVED it, and most recently played some softball - and can say, I am no longer afraid. :)
2. I am very afraid of "flying pens." I get nervous every time someone throws a pen, pencil, anything pointy like that, near me. This is because my sister put three pencils in my eye when I was 11 years old.
3. My favorite number is the number nine because, in my maiden name, each one of my names is 9 letters long.
4. I can ride a unicycle.
5. I play the viola and violin - and wish I had more opportunities to play them. I have broken a Guinness World Record using this skill.
6. I used to develop photos in my dad's darkroom and am sad he has now turned it into a computer room.
7. I like to cook from recipes but then adapt them the way I like them.
8. I love when things are clean and organized.
9. I love making to-do lists - and making them very detailed so I can cross off more things and feel like I did a ton.
10. If I could choose any place to visit, I would want to visit Austrailia.
11. I LOVE surprises... surprise parties, surprise letters, surprise EVERYTHING.
12. I used to collect beanie babies... I have an entire tub of them. Along those lines, I also have every stuffed animal I was ever given.
13. I ran over my friend with a car when I was 16. Don't worry - he's fine - and no, it wasn't my fault.
14. I asked Melanie for this one: I was the world's only human rainbow. :)
15. I am a competitive rifle shooter.

Day 2- the meaning behind your blog name: It's jae and rick.... for Jackie and Eric - Jae is my nickname from junior high - Rick is Eric's nickname.
Day 3- a habit that you wish you didn’t have: I wish I didn't bite my nails so much.

Day 8- how you found out about blogger and why you have one: I have a blogspot blog because Natalie told me I needed to get on the blog scene YEARS ago. I've always had a journal or blog since I was 12 though.

Monkeys and Bananas

On Wed. Oct 27th, Eric and I took a flight out to JERSEY! :) We arrived pretty late at night, where Brian picked us up, and we went home and went to bed.

The next morning, we got to meet the twins! They are so freaking cute, I can hardly stand it!

Rachel makes all the baby food from scratch. She's amazing, and I totally want to do that when we have kids. That morning, they got to try green beans (store bought baby food), and did NOT like it. Obviously, it's momma's homemade baby food or nothing! I asked Brian if he had tried the jarred baby food, and he hadn't. So, he did, and that was the end of feeding them that food.

Later that day, we went to lunch with Mike and Cathi, and then again later, had dinner at their house too! Delicious. Thanks for having us over!

Aus and Ange came over between lunch and dinner to hang out.
This is my HOTT hubby.
Brian and Jackson (I like to call him Jacksy)

Rachel came home later that day, and showed us this suh-weet bat costume she made last year. How cool and creative is that?

The next day, we hung out with the babies some more! :)

Evan - I LOVE their eye color - so blue.
The twins and me
Eric and the twins
Evan drinking his bottle
Jacksy sleeping and drinking his bottle. He had just had surgery and was barely sleeping from all the drugs. I guess sometimes the only time you can sleep is when you eat. Hilarious.

I tricked him and switched his bottle for his binky and he took a small nap.

That morning, Eric and Brian did a bunch of projects so it was me and the babies! BTW, I seriously need one of these baby bjorn things when I have kids. SO awesome.
Ange and Aus came over and we had some cheesesteaks for lunch.
That night, Eric and I watched the babies while Brian and Rach went on a date. We also made some freezer meals with the babies! They loved it, I'm sure. :)

The next day, Eric went paintballing all day, and I hung out with Rach and babies until Brian got home. Then, Noelle, Brennan (another nephew I had a chance to meet), and Ange came over to go to the Amish Market with us. I had three nephews to love and hang out with all day. SO fun.

After the Amish market, Rach fed the babies before we headed to the grandparent's for dinner.

And hung out just a bit longer before we headed over. :)
The twins share so well.
Everybody needs a momma's smooch, right?
AND, a momma's hug!
This picture is so freaking cute... just staring at each other.
(See the leopard tool blanket above? Eric chose these fabrics for his blanket, and then I made it for the twins.)

At Eric and Brian's grandmom and grandpop's house.
(This blanket was zebra and jungle - I chose these fabrics and made this one as well. Makes me want to make more blankets!)

The kids LOVE these tables. Who needs baby toys when you've got wicker tables?!
Jacksy hanging on to Evan. It cracks me up how much they love to be together. Evan was always putting his arm on Jackson, or Jackson was crawling over Evan, etc. They just love each other.
Grandpop and Jackson
Grandpop chasing Jackson before he crawled too far.
Eric and the twins - another table to play on!
Grandmom and Jackson... what do you think Jacksy is thinking?
And grandmom and grandpop's bowling balls. They are professionals!
The next day, Eric and I hung out in our pajamas until 1 pm - played with babies, got ready, and made more freezer dinners.

Evan is such a SMILY baby.
Every time I took a photo of him with the flash, he would make this face right after.
This photo makes me want to be back in Jersey so badly. I miss all the nephews!
(Oh, and PS - see that bandaid on my thumb? Yeah... Rach and I aren't allowed to use knives any more.)

Rach and Evy
Rach's grandpa's birthday was on Halloween - and Rach wanted a picture of him with a hot bod. Here's the picture I came up with after a little photoshop magic. Rach took it and had it put on a cake! SO COOL!
And of course, it was Halloween so out came the costumes! Rachel and Brian's outfits were so creative and cute! LOVED THEM.

Rossiter and his girlfriend Julia came over with Rossiter's daughter - she was Princess Leia.
Rach hands out popcorn for Halloween (and kit kats). What a smart idea - popcorn!
The monkey and banana's practiced going trick-or-treating at their house. They get an A+ from me!

Then we went over to Rach's mom's house and had a party for her grandpa.
We went trick-or-treating at Ms. Love's house next door.
Evan feel asleep on Rach's sister, Andrea.
Rach's pop checking out his cake for the first time.
Evan and Uncle
The next day Eric and I decided we should probably get some stuff done - like getting his birth certificate, eat some pizza, pretzels, see some of his friends, etc.

Can you guess what Eric is eating? It's not a cheesesteak... it's a cheesesteak PRETZEL.
We ate pizza from Stella's. YUM.
We got back to Bri and Rach's after our day of errands. Eric and I raked up the leaves outside, and then obviously we needed to have a photoshoot with the leaves!
These two pictures are the only good ones that I could get of both of them. Evan didn't really want to be in the leaves.

Rach bought them these cute shoes, and hats. So adorable.
After trying to get more pictures of Evan but failing, Jackson got his own photoshoot.
Action shot!

And of course, big kids get to play in leaves too! I love the leaves! I miss trees.
A bit later, Ange and Austin came over and we all said bye to Austin who went to basic training for the Air Force. Good luck Austin!

At some point in our trip, I saw this restaurant. What a funny name.
That night, we went out to the pub with Aunt Chris and my friend Bexter. I ate WAY too much - so good. After that, we babysat the twins for Rachel and Brian to have a last night out while we were there.

The next day, Eric and I made some more freezer meals, packed up, and Brian and the twins took us to the airport. I was so sad to leave everybody! We definitely need to plan a trip back soon.

We flew home and saw this awesome sunset. SO beautiful!

Thanks Brian and Rachel - and babies! - for having us stay at your house. It was so much fun and we are so grateful for your hospitality!
